Week 1: Gratitude Journaling

1. I am grateful that I remembered that I was inspired to start a website to simply make journaling post per week almost identical to my daily gratitude journaling.

After uploading my first gratitude post, the following week as I was preparing for the second post and I began stressing out because I felt that I was trying to find a topic to “blog” about. Then I remembered, that was not my original idea, and I easily got caught up in posting just to post. This is why it is important to write down your intentions to always remember to be true to your inspired creativity. Every day I write 3 things that I am grateful for, sometimes in the morning but lately I have been enjoying the evening. The evening gives me space to reflect on the day. The morning, I would reflect on the previous day mainly. I was inspired to start my website simply to share journal entries, so I have no idea how I got caught up trying to find a blog title about gratitude and try to write about that topic. I am grateful that I caught it early and returned to my true intentions. So, this is my first official gratitude journal post.

2. I am grateful that I made it through the first week of my first seasonal job in an extremely remote location, without cell phone service LOL!

During my interview with this job, they mentioned that it was a very remote location in the Adirondacks and that there is 3 miles of gravel road before you arrive at the location. They also mentioned that cell phone service was nonexistent, and I said sign me up. I understood, but I didn’t understand lol. Literally ZERO cell service. The good thing is that they provide Wi-Fi service that works very well in my room. The service is hit or miss in other locations on the grounds but that is okay because normally I am working. The work week went well but it was a bit overwhelming working 40 hours per week, maintaining my training, making YouTube videos and posts for my website. I journaled daily so I was able to keep myself levelheaded, adjust and give myself grace. I feel more prepared for the second week so we will see how it goes.

3. I am grateful that this past week is the first week of the year that I’ve run 10 miles in the week after my knee injury last year! YAY ME!

After my knee popped out of place and I had to stop running, I was devasted. Basically, I was training for a marathon, running too many miles per week with a weak body. My hamstrings, ankles, tibialis, hip flexors, and lower back were weak and finally gave out. I had to go through physical therapy, and I revamped my entire training program. For months, I did not run at all. I got into calisthenics, played more basketball, started jumping rope and doing other strength training exercises to truly build my full body strength overall. This year I got back into running and the most that I’ve run is 7 miles per week. I was very cautious and afraid of overtraining again especially because I was also in the gym training. I learned to listen to my body instead of pushing through for numbers.

So, when I arrived at my seasonal job, the first thing I did was knockout 4 miles! Now it was totally different because we are deep in the mountains. Therefore, there is soooo much up and down hill. But to my surprise, week one I hit 10 miles in 3 days. Of course, it was challenging but my body adapted very well. I am just thinking how much I have improved this year and how much I will improve running in the mountains for the next 5 months. I am going to be a beast when I get back to running on flat ground! I won’t get too excited because I will begin to think about what running will be like in 5 months and I still must get through my time here lol.
